The Real Mum of the Year Award 2008
They say Motherhood is rewarding, so where's the Reward!?
For the second time ever, and in what is believed to be a world first, realmums.com.au have presented The Real Mum of the Year Award to this year's winner ...
Penny Brecknell

Penny, from Cairns, Queensland, is the mother of two, a six year old boy and three year old girl. She represents everything it is to be a Real Mum, she is honest, supportive and not scared to share her Mummy Misdemeanors.
She is consistent, walking her kids to school each day. Including pupil free days.
She means what she says, and carries through on her threats. Like asking her daughter 3 times to move out of the way whilst hosing the back yard, then hosing her daughter when she refused to move.
Penny also admits to enjoying the odd Barbie movie, enjoying some quiet, kid free time, sitting in front of Barbie: Princess Island when the kids are out.
Congratulations, Penny, you are most deserving of this prestigeous Award.

Real Mum of the Year Awards 2007
2007 played host to the World First Real Mum of the Year Award.
With loads of nominations from all over Australia, choosing Australia's Real Mum of the Year proved to be quite a challenging task. Several cases of sauvignon blanc and Lindor chocolate got us through, however, and we were able to crown the 2007 Real Mum of the Year.
Despite incredibly stiff competition, the Award went to Kirsty Rosman from
Indented Head, Victoria, a mother of two young boys and a husband, all of whom allowed her to walk around for 3 hours with yesterday's undies hanging out the back of her jeans.
But we did love her advice ... "I find a good cry in front of the kids snaps them out of it. (Does that make me a bad mum? Sometimes it's all you can do to hold the screaming in!")
Kirsty encompasses what it means to be a Real Mum - she's supportive, she loves her family (despite the fact that they let her walk around with knickers hanging out her pants), she is honest about her Mumming, and best of all, she gave us a bloody good laugh by being honest about her Mumming.
About being the Real Mum of the Year 2007, Kirsty says:
"Winning the Real Mother of the Year Award was such an honour and a surprise for me and such a great opportunity for mum's finally to be recognised as who they really are, "real" mums doing the best they can raising great kids. Thanks to Amanda, Real Mums and all the supporting sponsors for hosting such and amazing award."
Thanks, Kirsty - and once again, congratulations.
